When I first learned of this project, I decided that I wanted to re-imagine one of my favorite childhood games, Monopoly. I wanted to focus on a TV show for a theme because I really enjoy TV shows. Then I decided to make this board for my sister's birthday in July and focus on her favorite TV show: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

To begin, I had to do some research on the show. I primarily used this website for research purposes. I also asked my sister's boyfriend for some help.

There were not enough locations in the show to have different properties, so I changed the individual spaces to episode titles. Hence why the property cards are now "Episode Rights".

The whole board was created in Photoshop. For the background, I used the first photo on this page and used the blend tool to erase the FX logo and the title of the show. I then downloaded a similar font to the show's font and used that to create the new title, "The Gang Plays Monopoly". For some of the spaces (Go to Jail, Free Parking), I used photos from various episodes and used the pen and eraser tools to cut around the images.

For some of the other spaces, I had to change the names to fit the theme. For example, the Utilities were changed to two films the gang creates in the show. The Railroads were changed to various drinks/foods that are iconic in the show.

To create the physical game, I printed the PDF file onto sticky vinyl and stuck it to an old Monopoly board.
