Pom Pom Letters

For this project, I knew I wanted to make something out of the letters "D" and "Z" for my sorority, Delta Zeta. I saw an idea on Pinterest about using cardboard to make 3D letters and I decided that is what I wanted to do.

In my search for cardboard, Ms. Fecho gave me matte board because it is a little thicker than cardboard. I cut the board into four letters, two "D"s and two "Z"s. Then, I used the same board to make the support pieces. Then I glued the pieces to the letters, creating the 3D design in pictures 1 and 2 on this page.

I found some string I had used for another project and started to wrap the letters. The string is pink because pink is one of the colors for my sorority. After about 20 minutes, I realized it was not looking great. I decided to instead use the string to make pom poms and then glue the pom poms to the letters instead. Instead of filling in the insides of the letters with more string, I used paper of the same color to cover up the sides.

Sorority girls love letters like these to decorate and take pictures with. I could make different shapes and use different colored string for different sororities.
